John Rogers Walking Videos
Stumbled across this fella on youtube. Don't know if anyone else on here has seen any of his vids, but he basically goes on walks around London, mainly East London, taking in the sights and giving a commentary on certain areas such as parks, roads, buildings, closed boozers, etc. Won't be for everyone, maybe more for expats and the nostalgic types. Anyway, in this one he is walking around Bow and Pudding Lane.

Amazing when I look at Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs compared to when I worked there 1967 - 1980.

Watched loads of them, all good. He does love Wanstead Flats so.

Only criticism I'd have of John is that we spend too much time looking at his talking mug.

Nice. The melancholic piano music is unnecessary but nice well presented youtuber.

Cheers for the link Manuel. Really enjoyable, bought back a fair few memories. Good to see where I lived in my youth (Balfron Tower) towards the end. Had a quick look but couldn't see whether he'd done a walk through Poplar?

Sydney - The main thing I take away from it is that it tells how many areas I have never even been. Example, i've never gone for a stroll down the River Lea..

Yeah - same guy.

Just watched the one on the Aldersbrook & shrine at the top of Ilford Hill.

Number of times I've been passed that shrine and not given it a second thought...

Quite like these sort of things, coming from London I do find them fascinating, thanks for posting.

My family left London when I was about 6, then at 21 I left the UK, and never really retuned apart from visits, but still feel a connection especially to London for some reason, sights and sounds stir the memory’s and even smells, something about the smell of the tube station and also that noise as a train approaches that’s very distinct to me, every time I visit London, every time im in a tube station I think of it, even as I type I can hear the whoosh and the air hit my face just before the train comes out of the tunnel, then that smell, that in no way I can describe but is so unique, weird!

Strange the things you remember or that stick out!

Re: John Rogers Walking Videos
Has this guy also wandered along the Roding Valley and east from Newbury Park station in other videos?

For some inexplicable reason, anything on London's Fleet River interests me - no idea why - it should be the Rom/Ingrebourne/Beam given where I was born & grew up.

And was London's Strand really named because it ran directly alongside a beach?
